workshop summary
Join us for this engaging three-day workshop designed for artists of all skill levels. Enhance your painting skills with an intuitive, reliable approach to the figure. We will begin by drawing directly on the canvas with charcoal or paint, surveying proportions and shadow shapes to build a structural scaffolding that makes the rest of the painting easy and enjoyable.
On day 2, we will dive right into a full color first pass, mapping out the overall light-effect. The remainder of the workshop will be spent dialing in a section of the figure in a second pass, moving part by part and solving each area to completion.
Throughout this workshop we will discuss a logical approach to color mixing, and some simple solutions for mixing flesh. Students will leave with a better ability to strategize through layers, and an understanding of how to self-correct with confidence. Anatomy, form, and materials will also be discussed.
Tyler will work on a demo painting alongside students, as well as give daily individual feedback to each student. As we will be diving directly into paint, this will be a fun, high energy workshop.
Students of all skill levels are welcome; the only requirement is confidence in learning.
